Everyday Reds for under $10!

BIRCHGROVE

Hey guys, the wine guy here! I’ve recently gone through the latest vintages of the Birchgrove wines, and I am still amazed at the great value for money this winery produces - even though I can’t tell you who it is.

Here’s the facts:
It’s an Australian-owned, 3rd generation winery, in the region of Murray Darling. It’s highly rated at 4.5 Stars (it’s not 5 stars, but it’s close because up until the last 5 years or so most of their wines were $15.00 and under). And what you probably don’t know is that this range of wines for the last 5 years have been rated - on and off - as the best reds and whites at under $15.00 in Australia by a famous Australian wine writer.
So what does this mean? These wines rate between 87-90/100 for sub $10.00, which says they are well-made, good value everyday wines. They’ve never been sold for double the price at any stage and then discounted back to convince you that you’re getting a unbelievable deal (as some are). The top price has always been round $10.00 - 11.00, and we are offering them at under $9.00 (for a 12-bottle case) with no strings attached!!!

These are great party/bbq/dinner wines that will have everyone coming back for a second glass.

The 2013 Shiraz is bright in colour, fresh and juicy, with red and black fruits on the palate. It’s round and evenly balanced on the finish, making this a great, juicy wine for such a low price.

The 2012 Cabernet Merlot wine is light red in colour, with vibrant purple hues. Its bouquet is fresh berry flavours, and the Cabernet Sauvignon provides the palate weight while the Merlot adds complexity to the wine.

For our white wine buyers - these producers make a great range of whites as well.  A little insider info on whites from this region - traditionally whites from this climate can tend to look quite ‘blousy’ or fat as we call it in the trade, all middle palate, with sometimes a little sweetness to add richness and acid to freshen the finish. But these wines are fresher, and don't show those characters to me - I suspect some of the fruit has been picked early to add fresh or greener characters, but all nicely done.

2013 Pinot Grigio

2014 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

2013 Chardonnay

Normally $10.90, NOW $8.90 for 12 pack and $9.90 for a 6 pack

Enjoy!
