Good Value Rioja Crianza
About the Winery
Vicente Gandía Winery, a Valencian wine producing institution founded way back in 1885, is celebrating its 125th anniversary and remains true to the values it held when it was first created: to combine tradition with internationalisation, to back innovation and quality, to be committed to promoting wine culture, and to contribute to the welfare and progress of society.
Vicente Gandía Winery ranks in the top 15 Spanish wineries and the top 100 European wineries. It has a presence in 85 international markets and is the ambassador of Spanish wines to the world.
The Vicente Gandia seal applies to all their products: premium quality, reasonable prices, and consistency from one harvest to the next. Wines which are characterised by their elegance, complexity, smoothness and balance. Creating two different styles of wine: traditional, and modern and innovative.
Rioja is probably the best known region when it comes to Spanish red wines. Strategically placed between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the Rioja region produces the majority of its acclaimed red wines from the Tempranillo grape.
About the Wine
Crianza is one of three Rioja red wine classifications. It is a fresh, fruit-forward youthful red wine that is aged in oak for a minimum of one year and then spends another year aging in the bottle. Crianza has a reputation for being a perfect partner when it comes to pairing with food such as tapas. This is an easy going, everyday wine that will not disappoint and offers good, consistent value year in and year out.
The Raiza Rioja Crianza is a 100% Tempranillo made from a selection of La Rioja’s finest grapes. The harvest is carried out by hand in the second half of September. Controlled fermentation at 26ºC and subsequent ageing in American and French oak barrels for 12 months. Bottle aged for a minimum of six months.
This results in a fine Tempranillo that is a garnet red colour, translucent, medium-high depth, with ruby edges. Its aroma evokes jammy red and dark berry fruits, well balanced with the balsamic, vanilla and toasted notes coming from the wood. On the palate it displays its complexity, with good structure and balance, the predominant flavours being jammy red fruit, with café crème and cocoa notes.
