Sauvion Touraine 'Les Eglantines' Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Quintessential French Sauvignon Blanc

About the Wine Maker

Touraine, at the very heart of the Loire Valley region, is recognised for their white wines made from 100% sauvignon blanc.

The SAUVION house is located in the heart of the Nantes vineyard in Château du Cléray-Sauvion in Eolie. Eolie, is often referred to as the land of the wind with ocean breezes that come to gently sweep through the vines. This château has belonged to the SAUVION family since 1935 and is, with its old vaulted cellars, one of the most ancient properties in the Sèvre et Maine vineyard.

Les Eglantines is an elegant, dry and crisp sauvignon made under the direction of Yves Sauvion’s son Pierre-Jean, a fourth-generation winemaker and a graduate of Bordeaux University, who has worked both in California and Australia. He is an exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled wine maker. He sees his role in the wine making as "tending his garden." This phrase means a lot when you taste his wines.

About the Wine

Les Eglantines is quintessentially French, fresh and crisp with a vibrant pale yellow colour with green edges.

This 100% Sauvignon exhibits expressive floral notes and slightly vegetal characters with touches of exotic passionfruit and pineapple notes.

Fresh, fruity and slightly vegetal characters present themselves on the palate at first, a rounded mid palate and good balance with a long, dry finish.

Serve at 13°C. Excellent aperitif. It is a zingy little number that would be superb partnered with a plate of oysters. Also a good match with seafood or shells, and of course excellent with the famous "Valençay" cheese.
