...where Convict Past and Barossa Tradition meet...
Westake Vineyards is a small, family operated business committed to producing quality wines from their vineyards in the renowned northern sub-regions of Koonunga and Moppa in the Barossa Valley.
Their aim is to highlight the soils and seasons in which these vines grow and to celebrate their differences, ensuring that each vintage will have its own story to tell.
By combining Darren's colourful convict past and Suz's traditional Barossa heritage they look forward to creating their own unique story.
The Westlake 'Eleazar' Shiraz 2012 is made from their best parcels of fruit, sourced from their lowest yielding vines. Fruit is fermented in open fermenters as whole berries, hand plunged and left on skins for an extended period before being basket pressed and matured in new French and American oak hogsheads.Dense, dark and vibrant from the moment you pour the glass. Fragrant fruit with dark berries, liquorice, mocha and funky oak lurking below. With time in the decanter this wine evolves and gives you an insight into what it has to offer in the future.
True to form in only its 4th release, it is a great representation of what the Northern Barossa is all about.
