ABOUT THE WINERY

Château Dauzac is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region of France, in the commune of Labarde. The wine produced here was classified as one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Since 1988, the estate has belonged to the insurance company (MAIF), but is managed by the André Lurton group. In 2004, his daughter Christine Lurton-Bazin de Caix took charge of the property.

The Domaine comprises 297 acres (120 ha), of which 111 acres (45 ha) are planted, 60% with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and 40% with Merlot. The average age of vines is around 30 years. The Château produces the main wine, Château Dauzac, from the 104 acres (42 ha) planted in the Margaux appellation.

VINTAGE

The summer heat gave way to the brightness of September, leaving behind the memory of very homogeneous flowering and dry, temperate summer, promising a great vintage. Light rain in August and mid-September restored a healthy glow to the leaves, thus allowing the grapes to become packed with aromas, tannins, sugars, and anthocyanins.

Cabernet Sauvignon 51% - Merlot 49%

Oak - 100% French for 18 months

TASTING NOTES

Labastide Dauzac is the Domaine's 3rd wine, as with all great producers that make these different levels of their wines, the winemaking, care, and workmanship doesn't change. You basically get to drink something similar to the 1st wine, but in a style that is generally ready to drink earlier and enjoy.

As with all the 2015's, nice ripe fruit with a hint of spice. Quite full on the palate with nice weight, great balance and integration with the oak. VERY NICE

Through to 2030
